Hi I was in Orlando in 2003 and I’m coming back with my own kids in 2021. I visited an airboat hire place back then where you could drove the boats yourself and this seems like the place. Did it used to be an airboat hire and it’s changed now?

I did not see any air boats when we were there in December. Canoes and kayaks. I did not even see any on the creek. This was a eco-tour. Different wildlife, baby alligators, birds, trees and plants. We really enjoyed the tour and was peaceful being out in the kayak.
Look up public launches at Shingle Creek - a website pops up but trip Advisor won't let me copy and paste it! They're also super friendly there, so you could call and ask.
Will renters (vs. those on tours) reach a point where they will be met and picked up and returned to the start, or is that only for for those who purchase tours? Thanks.
A:
We took the "more difficult" route on our own, and just turned around when we were wanted. You run across kayaks returning all along the route. Beautiful trail for kayaking!!
Are there picnic areas along the paddling trail or only in the landing area?
A:
Only noticed 1 other place you could get out going out to the north but didn’t see any picnic areas. If you are only having 2 hours in the boat just have your picnic at the end.
