Beautiful place to see! the boardwalks over the marsh were great. lots of informative signage. we only saw the swans, no other wildlife but it was still a great area for walking and being in natur…Full review by Debbie S

Hi Chris, Thank you for your question. Sam and Sonic (our snapping turtles) were originally illegally held in captivity by people that did not understand the rules about native wildlife, and as a result are not capable of surviving in the wild. They were in need of a captive forever home and the Wye Marsh was able to provide them the appropriate care with the needed permits. All our animals in captivity are un-releasable to the wild. We agree wildlife is best in the wild but in this case these individuals would not survive. Our facilities are inspected twice a year and subject to many rules and regulations including OSPCA, and Canada's Accredited Zoo's and Aquariums. We really are striving to provide our animals with the best care possible. We would love to hear any more of your questions or concerns please feel free to contact our Animal Care staff.
