The Switch 2 relies on the use of microSD Express Cards, rather than the best Nintendo Switch SD Cards that are compatible with its predecessor. These new cards were chosen by Nintendo "for faster data reading and writing speeds", but it also means you'll need a specific type of card to upgrade your storage.

The Nintendo Switch 2 comes equipped with 256GB of internal storage, which is more than enough to store the vast majority of games that you'd want installed - at launch, that is. However, give it a few months for more games to start rolling out on the Nintendo Switch 2 and you'll likely see that storage space fill up fast.
