Derrick Groves was found and captured in Atlanta on Wednesday afternoon, almost five months after he was among 10 inmates who escaped from a New Orleans jail.
Groves, 28, was taken into custody at a residence on Honeysuckle Lane SW by the U.S. Marshals Southeast Regional Fugitive Task Force, with help from Atlanta Police and Clayton County officers. Groves blew kisses to the camera as he was placed into a patrol car.
A source tells WDSU that Derrick Groves may be linked to the Atlanta area. The source says multiple tips have been called in. At this time, the Atlanta Police Department and other law enforcement agencies are working on a scene where a suspect is barricaded in a home in Atlanta.
