As Claire’s continues to navigate the Chapter 11 bankruptcy process, the company has confirmed a handful of locations are set to close. The teens and tweens-focused retailer will close 13 Claire’s locations, along with five Icing stores, which are also owned by the company.
Claire’s announced in a release Wednesday that it entered into an agreement to be purchased by an affiliate of Ames Watson, a private equity firm which will take over Claire’s operations across the U.S. The sale still must be approved by bankruptcy courts in U.S and Canada.
Claire’s – a mall staple for tweens – has made its second bankruptcy filing in seven years as it faces mounting debt, intense competition and higher costs due to President Trump’s tariffs.
