Firefighters are working to contain a grass fire that has burned dozens of acres on the southern end of El Dorado County on Wednesday. Cal Fire's incidents webpage shows the Coyote Fire has burned about 60 acres in the Coyoteville area, about 21 miles southeast of Placerville.

The Coyote Fire in El Dorado County has grown to 624 acres with 5% containment as of Thursday, Cal Fire officials said, the fire burning in rugged terrain.

More than 1,250 firefighters are battling the blaze in steep terrain. Officials say the fire poses a potential threat to life and property.
