A man has been arrested in connection with a murder and arson that occurred last week in Deerfield Beach, authorities confirmed Monday to Local 10 News.

The Friday predawn home fire that killed a Deerfield Beach woman and her dog struck investigators as suspicious from early on in the investigation. Sunday, an arson suspect was arrested in Manatee County and his address says this could’ve been a case of deadly domestic violence.

DEERFIELD BEACH - An investigation is underway after a woman's body was found in a burning Deerfield Beach duplex early Friday morning. It happened in the 4300 block of NW 4 Avenue, which is just west of I-95 and north of Sample Road.

A woman was found dead inside a smoldering Deerfield Beach duplex early Friday morning after BSO firefighters extinguished a fire they think may have been deliberately set. The fire was reported around 4:40 a.m. at the duplex located in the 4300 block of Fourth Avenue, said Claudinne Caro, a Broward Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman.
