You might not expect to hear sounds of optimism from a driver of Lewis Hamilton’s pedigree after an eight-place finish, as the Ferrari driver settled for in Sunday’s Miami Grand Prix. But optimism was exactly the word Hamilton used to describe his state of mind after the race.

Lewis Hamilton said he will refuse to “apologise for being a fighter” as he defended his “PG” radio spat with Ferrari at the Miami Grand Prix. Hamilton accused his team of having “a tea break” as they decided whether Charles Leclerc should be moved out of his way while they were running in seventh and eighth.

"Have a tea break!" Hamilton's radio jab doesn't expose a rift in the team, but there is a growing sense of urgency
