Astonishing stat exemplifies Broncos LB Nik Bonitto's dominance
Bonitto’s seven sacks, according to Ari Meirov of The 33rd Team, are tied with the New York Jets, the Eagles, the Jacksonville Jaguars and the Tennessee Titans. That number also outranks the Chicago Bears (five), the Carolina Panthers (five), the Baltimore Ravens (six) and the San Francisco 49ers (six).
A big reason for this has been the elite play of Broncos' left tackle Garett Bolles, who's made a strong early case for the NFL's maiden Protector of the Year award. However, as great as Bolles has been, Broncos' right tackle Mike McGlinchey may not be getting the recognition he deserves for the unit's exceedingly low sack numbers.
Following a 21-17 upset win over the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 5, the Denver Broncos are now ranked 10th in Nate Davis' latest NFL power rankings for USA TODAY Sports. That's up two spots from when the team was ranked 12th last week.
History tells us that 50 percent of the NFL's 3-2 teams will make the playoffs. With that in mind, Maurice Jones-Drew offers his predictions on which of this season's seven such teams will advance to the tournament.
In 2022, Paton sent Bradley Chubb to the Miami Dolphins for a 2023 first-round and 2024 fourth-round pick (and the first was sent to the New Orleans Saints for the rights to hire Sean Payton). In that deal, the Broncos also acquired running back Chase Edmonds.
Five games into the season, Denver Broncos quarterback Bo Nix has a 55.0 " Total QBR " rating from ESPN, which ranks 19th out of 32 QBs. Nix's traditional passer rating is 87.9, which ranked 24th in the league.
The Broncos have known that Nik Bonitto is an elite pass rusher since they drafted him in the second round in 2022.
