Ozzy Osbourne, born John Michael Osbourne on Dec. 3, 1948, has spent decades in the spotlight since he rose to prominence in the 1970s as the lead singer of the heavy metal band Black Sabbath.
There couldn’t be a more poetic passing than that of Ozzy Osbourne. The bat-biting rocker and erstwhile reality television star died Tuesday at the age of 76, mere weeks after a daylong concert in hishometown of Birmingham, England, that celebrated his musical legacy.
The House of Guitars in Irondequoit reflected on the life and legacy of heavy metal legend Ozzy Osbourne following his death. Known as the “Prince of Darkness,” Osbourne rose to fame in the 1970s as the lead singer of Black Sabbath.

Osbourne pioneered heavy metal with Black Sabbath before going on to have huge success in his own right. He was known for hits including Iron Man, Paranoid, War Pigs, Crazy Train and Changes, both with the band and as a solo star.
