Sri Lanka's former president has been arrested Friday in the alleged for using public funds for his personal travel, particularly to the United Kingdom.

The ex-leader, Ranil Wickremesinghe, was arrested amid government investigations into widespread bribery and graft.

New Delhi: Former Sri Lankan President Ranil Wickremesinghe has been arrested by the police for allegedly misusing government funds and travelling to London to attend the convocation of his wife, Professor Maithree Wickremesinghe, while he was President in 2023.
