Real Madrid make FINAL decision on signing Rodri from Man City – ‘almost impossible for that opinion to change’
Real Madrid president Florentino Perez has decided that he will not sign Rodri from Manchester City in the summer of 2026.
Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola hopes Rodri will not be sidelined for longer than “two or three weeks” after the midfielder was forced off in the first half of Sunday’s victory over Brentford.
Pep Guardiola goes into the international break with his team very much a Premier League title favorite, his goal leader the Golden Boot favorite, and his Ballon d'Or winning midfielder injured again.
The influential midfielder continues to build up his fitness after a serious knee injury, and remains unable to play regular 90-minute matches. After starting against Monaco in midweek, he faced Brentford from the off on Sunday and lasted just 22 minutes.
Manchester City knew they would claim ground on title rivals Liverpool - who lost again on Saturday - with a win and remain in touch with leaders Arsenal. Three wins in their past four matches keeps Pep Guardiola's side firmly in the mix after two defeats in August - but he will still want City to punish their opponents when they are on top.
