The National Women’s Soccer League says the game between Angel City and Utah should not have continued after defender Savy King collapsed on the field.

The National Women's Soccer League said that it would abandon future games featuring life-threatening emergencies to players, acknowledging Friday that the game should have ended after Angel City's Savy King collapsed on the field during a match on May 9.

After receiving criticism for finishing a match last week despite Angel City FC defender Savy King collapsing on the field, the NWSL announced Friday that it has changed its protocols for similar situations in the future.
