One state has crowned its official Queen Of Christmas. According to News Channel 5 on December 2, elected officials in Tennessee declared Brenda Lee’s record “ Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree ” the state’s official holiday song.

The song, which Brenda Lee recorded in Nashville when she was just 13 years old, is now the official holiday song of Tennessee.

On Monday, Tennessee leaders honored a woman — who may not exactly tower over anybody — but she casts a long shadow in the world of country music.

The Nashville singer-songwriter received the signed proclamation at the ceremony in Nashville, forever tying her 1958 song to her long-time home state.

Lee’s classic song, “Rockin’ Around The Christmas Tree,” will become the Official Holiday Song of Tennessee in writing. She will receive a signed proclamation at the State Capitol on Monday morning.
