A Cold Weather Advisory will remain in effect through 9 a.m. Monday morning. The temperature will dip into the teens in many areas, and wind chill values will plummet into the single digits. More sunshine returns for most of the Martin Luther King, Jr. Holiday, but that sunshine won’t provide much warmth, with highs only climbing into the 30s.

The last of four consecutive supermoons occurs Monday night. The moon is almost 30% brighter than normal and slightly larger. It also crosses the night sky almost directly overhead, the highest angle of any moon during the year.

A potent surge of Arctic air starts settling in Monday evening as a massive dip in the jet stream pulls in frigid air across the entire eastern half of the country. Temperatures are set to drop as low as 20 degrees below average through Thursday with the highs only reaching the teens and some lows even plunging below zero.
