US president says Ukraine head is ‘very nice’ after their sideline chat at Nato summit, but is dismayed at Russian leader for not ending war

NATO summit at The Hague is intended to signal to Russian President Vladimir Putin that the alliance remains united, despite US President Donald Trump's repeated criticisms and threats to pull out if defence spending targets aren't met.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, in an interview with Newsmax, said that a warm dialogue between the US and Russia will not stop President Vladimir Putin. Strong sanctions are needed for that.
