Top weather news for Tuesday, Feb. 4, 2025: A developing winter storm could bring a potentially crippling ice threat from the Midwest to the Northeast, and the West Coast remains on alert for flooding as a series of atmospheric river storms swamps the region.

The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for all of the region starting Wednesday night through Thursday morning. Freezing rain is expected across the region with some accumulation of ice expected overnight until temperatures rise above freezing on Thursday morning.

Central Pennsylvania remains under a winter weather advisory Thursday morning as freezing rain continues to fall. The so-called wintry mix of snow, sleet and freezing rain started overnight. Rain is continuing this morning, leaving icy surfaces, closing schools and offices, delaying flights and causing road restrictions.
