Surprisingly, Pokémon and Godzilla have quite a few things in common. Many Pokémon actually look like the kaiju in Godzilla movies.

All three Pokemon are dinosaur-like Pokemon with a very distinct axe-like spike on their backs. Baxcalibur’s crest looks almost identical to the dorsal spike that adorn Godzilla’s back.

Created by Ken Sugimori, Godzillante can be seen in Pre-Gen 1 Pokemon design documents. But he was probably just created to illustrate the game’s mechanics — not to become an actual Pokemon.
