As Houston faced another morning in the 20s, travelers flying out of the city's two airports Tuesday can expect far fewer cancelled flights than the two previous days.

A powerful winter storm that pummeled much of the United States with freezing rain and heavy snowfall forced airlines to cancel and delay thousands of flights on Monday.

Forecasters say it could be one of the most significant winter events this season.
