Six confirmed tornadoes swept through communities in two states. A mother and daughter were killed east of Knoxville, while others were seriously injured. NBC News’ Kathy Park spoke to residents about all that they’ve lost.

The tornadoes, which also injured three people and caused widespread damage, reached wind speeds in excess of 100 miles per hour.
