The university, formerly the Lanchester Polytechnic, has started a campaign to honour engineer Frederick Lanchester by having him as the face of the £50.

The rock legend was invited to play at Coventry's Lanchester Arts Festival in 1972, organised by Lanchester Polytechnic, now Coventry University, where he performed to 2,000 fans.
