Flash flooding overwhelmed roadways on Monday, causing some cars to become stuck in rising floodwaters.

Southeastern Missouri was hit hard by flash flooding on Friday as heavy rain caused rivers and creeks to surpass their banks and wreak havoc on local communities.

According to the National Weather Service, law enforcement has reported heavy rain producing 6 to 12 inches of rain, with Iron and Reynolds counties heavily hit.
