Local, state and national authorities are warning smartphone users about a surge in unpaid toll text scams asking for money to avoid penalties and legal action.

The EZDriveMA and E-ZPass texts are going around again and yes – they're still a scam. It's part of an ongoing scam targeting E-ZPass users in several states – though even some drivers who don't have E-ZPass have reported receiving the messages.
