North Texas is under a First Alert Weather Day as strong storms move in from the west. A tornado watch is now in effect until 11 p.m. for several North Texas counties, with baseball‑size hail already reported near Abilene.

After a chilly start, Thursday looks like a pleasant but cool day across North Texas. High pressure moves in, winds relax, and skies clear. Afternoon highs will stay in the 60s with plenty of sunshine. The warm-up begins quickly after that. Southerly winds return late Thursday into Friday, bringing 70s and even some 80s by Friday and Saturday.
The main risks will be large hail and damaging winds; however, an isolated tornado is still a possibility.

An updated report was issued from the NWS Fort Worth TX on Tuesday at 10:17 p.m. for strong thunderstorms until 10:45 p.m. The alert is for Dallas, Kaufman and Ellis counties.
Clouds will decrease throughout the afternoon, and winds will stay breezy coming from the south, gusting up to 20 mph.
