NEW YORK — Meta scored a major win Tuesday after a federal judge ruled that it is not a social networking monopoly, shooting down an argument from the US Federal Trade Commission that it should be forced to spin off two of its most popular platforms.
While WhatsApp hasn’t shared a public rollout timeline, the feature appears to be fairly advanced in testing. With multi-account support and usernames both in development, WhatsApp is gearing up for one of its biggest usability upgrades in years.
WhatsApp is preparing a new interoperability feature that will let users in Europe message people on supported third-party apps directly from WhatsApp. The update isn’t live yet, but Meta says it’s coming soon as part of its DMA-driven compliance.
