The return of Anthony Richardson to the starting lineup has provided the Indianapolis Colts offense and team with a spark. However, that unit will face a difficult test against a stingy Denver defense.

It's been a hectic first 14 games for Indianapolis Colts second-year quarterback Anthony Richardson. However, heading into the final quarter of the 2024 regular season, it's starting to seem that the 22-year-old signal-caller is building some new confidence. Not just for himself, but for his surrounding coaching staff as well.

Richardson's career was at a crossroads. As the noise around him grew, Ehlinger pulled the young QB closer when others pushed him away.

Since returning to the Indianapolis Colts' staring lineup, Anthony Richardson's play has greatly improved, including on the short, lay-up-like throws that need to be taken advantage of. As noted by Zach Hicks of SI's Horseshoe Huddle,

Bill Barnwell of ESPN recently highlighted one particular area where Colts’ QB Anthony Richardson has significantly improved since returning as the starter.

At his 29th ranking, Richardson only ranks ahead of a small group of quarterbacks consisting of Dallas Cowboys ' Cooper Rush, Atlanta Falcons ' Kirk Cousins, and New York Giants ' Drew Lock. It's far from an appealing crowd to be a part of, but there's reason for optimism surrounding the Colts' signal-caller moving forward.

In an interview with The Athletic, Colts’ GM Chris Ballard discussed the role Sam Ehlinger played in helping Anthony Richardson when benched.

Indianapolis Colts coach Shane Steichen always believed quarterback Anthony Richardson would return from his benching a better player.

What I have seen out of Anthony (Richardson) is a nice, calm, steady demeanor in really big moments, which is a good trait to have,” Cooter said.
