Today in Boston Celtics history, Kevin Douglas Gamble was born in Springfield, Illinois in 1965. An alum of the Iowa, Gamble was taken with the 63rd overall pick (there were many more rounds to the draft in that era) of the 1987 NBA Draft by the Portland Trail Blazers.

Luka Garza signed with the Celtics so he could get an opportunity to vie for that starting spot. He is battling with Neemias Queta, who is the favorite to win it. Still, this is something that Garza never had an opportunity to do with either of his former teams. In fact, he seemed to take a shot at one of those teams in a recent interview.

Joe Mazzulla was a Top 5 finisher in a pair of categories. In the voting for “the best manager/motivator of people," Mazzulla garnered 14% of the votes from general managers, tying him for third with Steve Kerr. Erik Spoelstra won that category with 28%, while former Celtics coach Ime Udoka finished second (24%).

During his time suiting up for the Celtics, Cheaney wore only jersey No. 40 and put up 4.0 points, 2.1 rebounds, and 1.2 assists per game.
