Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson accepted many valuable gifts “on behalf of the city” but failed to report them, according to a new report from the city’s inspector general. According to an advisory from Inspector General Deborah Witzburg,

While attempting an undercover inspection of the mayor's gift room, investigators were denied access to a log of gifts that is supposed to be publicly available.

A report found Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson’s office violated a policy requiring mayors to record gifts above $50 and “accepted on behalf of the City” in a publicly available log.
