Gov. Gavin Newsom called for an investigation of Elon Musk's company xAI, alleging a "breeding ground for predators to spread nonconsensual sexually explicit AI deepfakes."

Elon Musk's artificial intelligence company xAI said late on Wednesday it imposed restrictions on all users of its Grok AI chatbot that limit image editing after the service produced sexualized images that sparked concerns among global regulators.

After the attorney general announced the investigation, X Safety said it would be putting restrictions on who could generate images using Grok.
