Residents of Fairmont Village Apartments are left homeless after a flash flood caused the building to collapse, with Fairmont State University providing shelter for those affected.

A flash flood that swept through the city Sunday left streets looking like rivers and displaced about 50 residents of a West Side apartment complex.

Fortunately, unlike the Wheeling disaster, Fairmont had no loss of life and nobody unaccounted for. Morrisey confirmed to reporters the recovery of six bodies in the Wheeling area and two more are still being sought in the aftermath of the flooding.

Areas of West Virginia around Fairmont and Morgantown saw up to 3 inches of rain on Sunday, June 15, which caused flash flooding and major damage in some areas.
