The Palestinian Authority’s (PA) minister for foreign affairs, Varsen Aghabekian Shahin, described as “shocking and disappointing” the European Union’s refusal to act against Israel for violations in Gaza and the West Bank.

The European Union is working on a new deal with Israel to deliver humanitarian aid to Gaza. EU foreign ministers are meeting Tuesday in Brussels to discuss the agreement, which aims to provide food and fuel to Gaza’s 2.

Details of the deal remain unclear, but EU officials have rejected any cooperation with the Israeli-backed Gaza Humanitarian Fund over ethical and safety concerns. Opening more border crossings and allowing more aid trucks into Gaza is the priority, but officials say eventually they’d like to set up a monitoring station at Kerem Shalom crossing.
