The Diamondbacks and Chicago White Sox closed out their series on Wednesday afternoon — one day after Arizona second baseman Ketel Marte was visibly upset on the field. At the time, it was unclear what had happened in the seventh inning as Diamondbacks manager Torey Lovullo was seen consoling Marte on the field.

A 22-year-old fan who heckled the Diamondbacks’ Ketel Marte during a game against the Chicago White Sox at Rate Field has been banned indefinitely from the ballpark.

Marte was seen in tears on the field after the spectator yelled a derogatory comment during a seventh-inning at-bat in Arizona’s 4-1 win over Chicago Tuesday.
