The dismissal of Librarian of Congress Carla Hayden has triggered a group of Democratic lawmakers to request an investigation of potential improper communication.

President Trump fired Librarian of Congress Carla Hayden on Thursday (May 8) as the White House continues to purge the federal government of those it sees as opposed to the president and his agenda. Hayden was notified of her dismissal in a curt email from the Presidential Personnel Office.

U.S. Sen. Angela Alsobrooks, a Maryland Democrat, is urging President Donald Trump to reinstate former Librarian of Congress Carla Hayden — five days after Trump abruptly fired the longtime Baltimore resident.

Hayden, who was appointed by President Barack Obama in 2016, was the first woman and the first African American to hold the position.

Since returning to office in January, Trump has purged officials he regards as opposed to him and to his agenda. Hayden, nominated by President Barack Obama in 2015 and confirmed on a 74-18 Senate vote the following year, named Perlmutter as head of the Copyright Office in 2020.

Hayden, saying “litigation will be evaluated strongly.”  “Moving forward, I think what’s clear is that perhaps the executive branch should be removed from the process,” Jeffries told reporters during a Tuesday press conference,

The Broadway musical, which earned seven Tony nominations, scrapped a performance after the Librarian of Congress, Dr. Carla D. Hayden, was fired by the Trump administration.
