India's army chief will review security arrangements on Friday and visit the site of a deadly attack on tourists in Indian Kashmir earlier this week, an incident that has led to a fresh crisis with long-time rival and neighbour Pakistan.

At least 26 people, mostly tourists, were killed and dozens injured when terrorists opened fire in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, on April 22.

Tuesday's bloodshed in Pahalgam - where at least 26 tourists were killed in a hail of gunfire - marks the deadliest militant attack in Kashmir since 2019. The victims weren't soldiers or officials, but civilians on holiday in one of India's most picturesque valleys.
