The Erie SeaWolves have a new alternate identity, thanks to the help of HBO’s "Last Week Tonight with John Oliver." After extensive research, say hello to the Erie Moon Mammoths — a tribute to a local fossil excavation that occurred in 1991.

John Oliver and the "Last Week Tonight" crew will temporarily rebrand the Erie Seawolves as the Erie Moon Mammoths on July 19

Before the Erie Moon Mammoths, there was a lone male mammoth, a Summit Township diver and an Erie County lake. Find out how bones, a man and a body of water led to the SeaWolves' new name.
