The Jaguars’ worst records in their previous 16 seasons were 2-11 in 2012 and 2-10 in 2019. The former year was South Alabama’s first as an FBS program; the latter was the middle season of Steve Campbell’s three-year tenure, which ended with his firing with one year left on his contract after he posted a 9-26 overall record.
The Red Wolves are averaging 19.6 points per game (105th in FBS), 337 yards per contest (99th) and 4.4 yards per play (125th). You could argue those numbers are skewed by meetings with Arkansas and Iowa State, but Arkansas State’s offense still ranks 99th in SP+, which adjusts for the opponent.

Arkansas State scored 12 unanswered points in the fourth quarter. A missed field goal by South with less than two minutes left gave the Red Wolves time to march down the field one last time and win the game on a 38-yard field goal as time expired.
