Authorities in Indian-controlled Kashmir have temporarily shuttered more than half of the tourist resorts in the scenic Himalayan region following a deadly attack on tourists.

More than half of the tourist destinations in India's insurgency-torn Kashmir region have been closed to the public from Tuesday, according to a government order reviewed by Reuters, in a bid to tighten security after last week's attack on holiday-makers.

The government has taken a very strict decision as they’ve decided to close tourist destinations in Kashmir. There are a total of 87 tourist spots in Kashmir, out of which 48 have been closed. This decision comes to ensure the safety of the tourists, after the Pahalgam terror attack in the valley, where 26 civilians have reportedly been killed.
