Tropical Storm Erin strengthening quickly as it continues its westward path across the Atlantic, according to the latest advisory from the National Hurricane Center.

Erin strengthened into a powerful Category 4 hurricane in the Caribbean on Saturday and continues to intensify, the National Hurricane Center said.

The Hurricane Center warned that heavy rain in some areas could trigger flash flooding, landslides and mudslides.
