West Virgina Gov. Patrick Morrisey is asking the federal government to approve West Virginia’s participation in a program that will give more flexibility to correctional officers and other law enforcement agencies by granting them some immigration enforcement powers.

Through today’s agreement, ICE will delegate the authority to the Florida Highway Patrol to perform specified immigration officer functions under the agency’s direction and oversight.
