Savannah Guthrie explained that she threw away several odd items Hoda Kotb left on the 'Today' show set after her exit

“I was like, ‘Are they forcing you out?’ She’s like, ‘No Craig, I’m OK. I’m leaving,’” he recalled. “I was legit stunned, so much so that after she left, I went back to her dressing room, and I was like, ‘Are you sure you’re OK?’ It takes a certain kind of courage to leave anything when you’re at the height of your game.”

Hoda Kotb is no longer an early riser! On Sunday, Jan. 12, Kotb, 60, posted a screenshot on Instagram of her morning alarms turned off following her departure from Today after 17 years. “No alarm … whaaaaaaaattttt?

Guthrie is now entering her 14th year with the Today show, and she worked alongside Kotb during that entire period. When it came time for her longtime colleague — and close friend — to finally sign off the air for the final time on Jan. 10, it was an emotional moment.

The presents from Savannah Guthrie didn't stop at pom poms. Guthrie, who has gotten to know Hoda Kotb quite well to the point she wasn't surprised by her retirement announcement.
