NFL legendary tight end Rob Gronkowski is reportedly considering a return to the league, with the report mentioning ties to Denver Broncos head coach Sean Payton.

On Tuesday, Cecil Lammey of KKFN-FM in Denver reported Rob Gronkowski “is considering a return to the NFL. He worked with Sean Payton at FOX, and I’m told he loves Denver and QB Bo Nix.” Gronkowski hasn’t played since the 2021 season.

Lammey reports that league sources have also told him Gronkowski likes what he's seen from Denver quarterback Bo Nix. Gronkowski also has a relationship with Broncos coach Sean Payton from their time working together at FOX Sports.

Payton's one year spent in the media business at FOX Sports could pay some huge dividends for the Broncos. If Gronkowski returned at even 30% of the level he was at pre-retirement, he'd still be one of the best tight ends in the NFL and would give Payton and Nix a bonafide weapon to exploit defenses over the middle and down the seam.
