Florida Panthers center Aleksander Barkov found the back of the net twice during their victory over the Tampa Bay Lightning on Monday evening. Barkov did all of his damage in the second frame. He opened the period by scoring on a snap shot which broke the scoreless tie.

Every point counts. Battling for playoff position in the Eastern Conference, the Florida Panthers (38-21-3) will host the Columbus Blue Jackets (30-23-8) at Amerant Bank Arena on Thursday at 7 p.m. ET.

Barkov scored both of Florida's goals and took four shots on net in Monday's 2-1 win over Tampa Bay.

The Lightning host the Buffalo Sabres on Thursday at 7 p.m. Tampa Bay was never truly out of Monday night’s loss to the Florida Panthers, but a late bounce didn’t fall in favor of the Lightning to end the team’s eight-game win streak with a 2-1 falter to their cross-state opponent.
