Norwegian Bliss will call on Sitka, Juneau, Icy Strait Point and Ketchikan (Ward Cove) in Alaska. There's also a day of scenic cruising at Endicott Arm and Dawes Glacier. The northern lights will extend further south than usual tonight. The lights, also called aurora borealis, occur when charged particles enter our atmosphere and interact with the Earth’s magnetic fields.

Iceland and Greenland are two other prime viewing spots for aurora borealis cruises. You can also see the northern lights in remote regions like the Yukon in Canada, as well as Denali National Park and Preserve and Fairbanks, Alaska. These destinations are included on some Alaska cruisetours as inland extensions, rather than cruise ports.
