DETROIT — Alex DeBrincat and J.T. Compher scored in the second period and Cam Talbot finished with 32 saves to help the Detroit Red Wings keep their fading playoff hopes alive with a 2-1 win over the Florida Panthers on Sunday night.

DETROIT – Staying in a multi-team playoff chase requires solid goaltending, and the Detroit Red Wings are getting that from Cam Talbot. Talbot stepped up again Sunday in a 2-1 victory over the Florida Panthers, enabling the Red Wings to keep pace with the Montreal Canadiens heading into Tuesday’s huge game at the Bell Centre.

DETROIT -- Cam Talbot made 32 saves, and the Detroit Red Wings held off the Florida Panthers for a 2-1 win on Sunday at Little Caesars Arena. Alex DeBrincat and J.T. Compher scored for the Red Wings (36-33-7), who have points in four straight games (3-0-1).

The Panthers were without Aleksander Barkov, Matthew Tkachuk, Sam Reinhart and Sam Bennett — arguably their best four forwards — and defensemen Aaron Ekblad (suspension) and Gustav Forsling.

The Detroit Red Wings completed an important sweep of their final multi-game homestand of the 2024-25 regular season with a 2-1 victory over the Florida Panthers at Little Caesars Arena on Sunday night and have now pointed in four consecutive contests as they continue to keep pace in the race for the Eastern Conference’s second Wild-Card spot.
