The Florida Panthers are hoping to reach an accord with center Sam Bennett before free agency begins on July 1.

Panthers head coach Paul Maurice said his players are “wired as probably every fan is” as Florida regroups following a 5-4 overtime loss to the Edmonton Oilers in Game 4 of the Stanley Cup Final.

The Florida Panthers began their existence hosting home games in Miami’s Overtown area. From their first home game on Oct. 12, 1993, through April 16, 1998, South Florida’s NHL team played at Miami Arena, sharing the arena (and many revenues) with the Miami Heat.

The Carolina Panthers have had issues recently getting after opposing quarterbacks. The team’s third-round pick looks to put some swagger in the pass rush.

Despite a 5-4 overtime loss, Florida Panthers fans were loud and proud at Amerant Bank Arena during Game 4 of the Stanley Cup Final, with some willing to give up just about anything to see the Cup return to South Florida — from beer to beloved pets to even relationships.
