Saturday's grand opening activities of Gipson Play Plaza at Raleigh's Dix Park has been temporarily halted due to lightning, prompting officials to urge attendees to seek safety in their vehicles.

Gipson Play Plaza, an 18.5-acre playground at Dix Park officially opened to the public Friday. Many families were there to take full advantage of the park and its opportunities.
