Another blast of winter storms is closing schools, snarling flights and putting millions of residents on alert across parts of the Deep South and south-central U.S.

Ahead of this weekend’s winter storm, leaders in Madison County say they’re doing everything they can to keep roads clear to avoid a repeat of last year’s ice debacle.
