Col. Susannah Meyers sent an email to staff at the base distancing herself from JD Vance's visit to Greenland, according to a report.

The US announced it removed the commander of the Pituffik Space Base in Greenland on Thursday because of a “loss of confidence in her ability to lead,” after Vice President JD Vance’s controversial visit to the semiautonomous island last month.

The commander of Pituffik Space Base in Greenland, Col. Susan Meyers, was relieved of her duties after expressing disagreement with Vice President JD Vance's remarks during his controversial visit. Meyers' email to base personnel stated that Vance's concerns did not align with the base leadership's views.

The US has sacked the commander of its military base in Greenland over her alleged attempts to “subvert President Trump’s agenda” after hosting the American vice-president on the Arctic island. Colonel Susannah Meyers was removed as commander of the Pituffik Space Base late on Thursday after reports that she had sent an email critical of vice-president JD Vance’s visit to the island last month.

Although the military did not say why the colonel had been dismissed, it said it would not tolerate any subversion of President Trump’s agenda.
