A five-car crash on I-93 in Medford has left at least one person dead Thursday evening, according to Massachusetts State Police. Troopers responded to the crash on the northbound side of the highway near exit 25 around 6:20 p.m., state police said. Serious injuries were reported, and as of 7:15 p.m., at least one person had died of their injuries.

The Massachusetts State Police said the northbound lane of I-93 near Roosevelt Circle in Medford was closed, as well as both Exits 23 and 24 northbound, as a result of the crash.

Multiple law enforcement agencies assisted in shutting down I-93 at Roosevelt Circle in Medford. As of 7:12 p.m., State Police say at least one person’s injuries proved to be fatal and the Medical Examiner’s Office is responding.
