Carol Kaye declined her invitation to the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame ceremony in a since-deleted Facebook post. Despite her absence, she is set to receive the Musical Excellence Award.

Kaye was part of the iconic “Wrecking Crew” group of session musicians who played on a slew of 1960s hit records, most notably classic tracks from the Beach Boys. Those Beach Boys sessions, including for the band’s seminal “Pet Sounds” LP, were overseen by Beach Boys legend Brian Wilson, who died earlier this month.

The "pioneering bassist who shaped the sound of modern music" doesn't sound like she'll be attending the November awards ceremony.
